A Mother's Day gift guide: For and by canadian moms

03/05/2016 Jennifer Braun

Mother’s Day is just a few days away and in an effort to please mom, you might be wondering; what does she really want?

To help you choose the perfect gift, we asked hardworking momtrepreneurs across Canada just that (and included some suggestions of our own). Here are five gift ideas that are sure to please mom.

Spa Day
Though flowers and chocolates are always thoughtful gifts, moms are also eager for a little escape on their special day.

As a Canadian television host (catch her on À couteaux tirés on TVA, Tuesdays at 7), radio personality and mother of one, Anne-Marie Withenshaw says a day at the spa would be an ideal Mother’s Day gift.

“I don't like to be away from my family a full day on weekends, so I really miss those days where I would pack up my flip-flops and a magazine and just peace-out” Withenshaw says.

She suggests a day at Balnea Spa, located in Bromont, Quebec.

Concert Tickets
If your mom is a music lover like Canadian blogger and momtrepreneur Erica Diamond, she would love to receive tickets for a night out surrounded by a good band.

“I am a total music junkie,” Diamond says. “Great seats to a music concert” she says is a Mother’s Day gift she would really enjoy.

If your mom is an Adele fan, look for tickets for her up-coming tour where she’ll make several stops across Canada, later this year.

Something with Style
If your mom is style conscious and you’re looking to get her something that will keep her thinking of you all year long, consider buying her an accessory this Mother’s Day.

Picoum founder and radio host Isabelle Racicot says she would love to receive a necklace this year like the Rogald Gold Necklace, by My Addikt.  This is a fun necklace that a stylish mom can easily dress up or down for just about any occasion.

Invest in Their Hobbies
Besides being a mother, don’t forget mom has other hobbies and interests.

“One should gift anything that makes Mommy happy and mentally at peace, and for me that’s when I am running,” says former Quebec provincial politician and current CBC reporter Yolande James. She would love a Fitbit or any GPS running tracker as a Mother’s Day gift this year.

If your mom is also into fitness, consider gifting her workout wear too.

The Night off
Finally, while gifts and a day out are winning presents, mom’s like Racicot would also love to step away from usual daily duties:

“My idea of a great Mother’s Day gift would be that my husband cooks a great meal and my kids do the service,” Racicot says.

Weather you plan on making dinner or taking her out, just make sure mom is taking a well deserved break.

Don’t forget to order your gifts on the Picoum e-shop ASAP to receive them on time for Mother’s Day.
