Pantone’s fashion colour report approved outfit ideas

20/10/2016 Jennifer Braun

Pantone’s fashion colour report for fall 2016 has arrived and I love their choices for the new season.

The Fall 2016 colour palette is led by the Blue family and was inspired by “the desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism,” according to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.

The rest of the colour palette is anchored by earth tones such as Warm Taupe and Dusty Cedar, as well as vivid pops of colour like Aurora Red, and Bodacious.

If you’re looking to be on trend this season, these are definitely the colours you want to incorporate into your wardrobe. To get you started, here are some outfit ideas:

Warm Taupe

This season, the Pantone institute chose a Warm Taupe for their colour palette. I love this choice because not only is it on trend, this colour is also timeless so you can wear it well into the next season. Take this approachable neutral for a spin in this wool-blend blazer. Wear it with a pair of black leggings with mesh detailing and a simple black blouse for an easy outfit that can take you just about anywhere. Complete your look with some accessories like this necklace with delicate crystals and this multi-string bracelet with rose quartz stones.

Aurora Red

In contrast to the stable backbone of the Fall 2016 Pantone colour palette, the institute added Aurora Red for a welcomed punch. Incorporate this colour into your wardrobe with this red tunic by OÖM Ethikwear. Wear it with a pair of these wool pants for a look that is 100 percent comfortable. Finally, finish off your outfit with the accessory of the season – the chocker necklace – and this cord bracelet.
