Vampire Facelift: I did it! Did it work?

20/06/2016 Isabelle Racicot

A promise is a promise, and I’m happy that I can finally share with you the results of my Vampire Facelift also known as the "platelet-rich fibrin matrix" (PRFM) method, that I tried.

For those who didn’t read my first article on this treatment, I’ll summarize the process: It all starts with a blood sample. Once passed into a centrifuge, the platelets in your blood are extracted and separated from your red blood cells. Then, the platelets are injected back under your facial skin thanks to this machine that I affectionately called the platelets gun.

Your blood plasma contains active growth factors, which revitalize, heal and regenerate your dysfunctional cells.

I think the video below shows the uncomfortable, but not painful process pretty well.

A number of you wrote to me to ask for my opinion. Since you have to do the process over a few months, I had to wait and see before reporting any results.

You have to do the procedure (as seen in the video) three times at one month intervals. Yes, you have to go through this process where you feel like a sewing machine is going through your face three times!

If you find this description discouraging, it is even more important for you to find a friendly nurse who will pass the time with you and share some good laughs.

SO, did it work?

This process is supposed to reduce wrinkles, fine lines and scars, all while improving the tone and texture of the skin on your face, neck, neckline and hands. I’ll put my pride aside, actually in the garbage, to show you these before and after pictures (TAKEN WITH NO MAKEUP).

My first observation: The scar above my eye as well as my dark circles have diminished significantly. My makeup artist also noticed that my eyebrows looked more full.

Second observation: the tone of my skin has improved and my skin appears more firm. Is this a drastic change? No. Do I look 20 years younger? No. Without makeup does my skin look healthier and brighter? Yes!

For those of you who are looking for a miracle procedure, this one is not for you. If you are like me however, and you are looking for a way to slow down visible signs of aging in a natural way - this is a good solution. Though, you do still have to take into consideration the hefty price tag of $700 per session and you will need three of them. That’s some $2000 to spend the first time and 700$ every six to 12 months. I’ll let you decide.

Now you’ll have to excuse me, I have to go pick up my pride after sharing these pictures on the internet.
