What to wear to work in the winter

09/02/2017 Jennifer Braun

At the first sight of winter, many of us are often excited to start transitioning to heavier clothes and playing with various layered looks. In fact, the terms “sweater weather” are often received with lots of praise and excitement. But once the streets get slushy and the cold starts to become unbearable, we get sent into a winter outfit rut.

If you have been wearing the same sweater all week, you’re probably one of these people. (Yes, the black one you have on right now.) You’re not alone! If you’re feeling uninspired in the wardrobe department, peep these outfit ideas for winter dressing at the office:

Business casual

No matter where you’re headed in the winter, you want to be warm and comfortable, and that includes at work. For a look that is both cosy and professional, reach for items with luxurious fabrics or detailing. This faux fur vest with pockets will keep you warm, but still looks chic enough for an office setting. Let the vest do the talking by pairing it with a simple black tunic and a pair of leggings with back zipper detailing. Finally, complete your outfit with some classy accessories to polish off your look like this necklace with a howlite stone and his soft leather bracelet.

All business

Some might cringe at the thought of wearing a skirt in the winter, but they often pair great with booties compared to jeans that are more bulky at the ankles. Even in the winter, when in doubt, I reach for a little black skirt. If you’re also unsure, wear this black pencil skirt with tights, and a simple blouse. Wear it with this blazer with knit combo for a professional look that is also comfortable. Finish off your look with some statement accessories like these black fox fur earrings and this necklace.
